I just realized today that there have been long-known problems with Akismet, which manages the spam for this and all other WordPress.com weblogs. One blogger went so far as to call it “insane”.

If your comment(s) on any of the posts here have not shown up, it’s very likely that the deranged Akismet has taken it captive without telling me.  As far as I can remember, I’ve only deleted 2 comments, both of which were nothing other than blatant endorsements for another website.

If you post a comment and don’t see it after 24 hours, send me an e-mail (see my “About the Author” page for this) and I’ll find some way to see to it that your comment sees the light of day.  I might disagree with you, but I won’t silence you.  Promise.

I just wanted to “comment” on how much I’ve been enjoying your blog. I always learn something and it’s been a great help through a difficult time. I lost my Dad about 6 weeks before you lost your Mom and those particular posts were cathartic for me. Thanks for taking the time to write your thoughts; you never know whose life you might touch.

  2. Kate,

Thank you for your very encouraging words. I was hesitant to write about my personal experiences, but it has helped me work through my own grief, and now I know that it was also beneficial to someone else.

May your father’s memory be eternal!

    W.H.
